The last time I shot a concert for a newspaper… well, I wasn’t even married! Until yesterday, when a photographer friend of mine, Andrea, asked me to shoot God is an Astronaut on his behalf.
I love the band and I was going to see them anyway, but the best part is that when I arrived the concert turned out to be completely sold out: without a press-pass I would have never seen the show! The whole situation has got even better when they gave me acces to the under-stage…
So, great show, great time, and some good shots 🙂
p.s. this project is giving me confidence on the NEX-7 as a professional system so much that I shot the concert solely with this little camera. I brought the 16mm e-mount with the fisheye adapter, the voigtlander 35mm f2.5 and the minolta 100mm f2.8. Manual focusing can slow down stage shooting a bit, but it is just a matter of pre-focusing on the right spot and then waiting for something interesting to happen 🙂
