Twelfth day of “Night Walking”.
Porta Portese, Rome, Designated Parking Spots for Public Officials (the empty ones).
The loneliness of the citizens comes with the emptiness of the governments, national, regional, communal. I don’t know when that exactly happened, but at some point all the Public (utilities, authorities, laws, etc.) but the dept vanished in this country. Only the private remained, and not because private is better or stronger, but simply because there’s no option for a private company to earn money without doing any job or even just showing up at work.
That emptiness hits harder on large cities, where self-organised communities of citizens are more rare to happen and, hence, where the Public is utterly necessary in order to keep that gigantic organ that a city is up and running. Where the public disappears, the cities paralyse.
