New souvenirs arrive every day, here in the shops around Saint Peter’s basilica. New postcards, new posters, new magnets, and, now, new t-shirts. I have to admit that this is the first time I pay so much attention to the goods offered in these shops, so I can’t really make any comparison between the new Pope’s and the old Pope’s souvenirs. Yet, I feel that an “I The fact is, this Pope “rocks”. And he rocks like a “good rockstar”, like Bono of U2, for example. And lots of people already love him for this, for being a “good symbol” and a catalyst of high hopes and good purposes. It is a love unrelated with the person’s actions (it’s way to soon to judge Pope Francesco’s ones) but rooted in what he stands for (or seems to stand for, again, it is a little too early for evaluations). Anyway, my point is that I can see a market for these kind of t-shirts. The same way I didn’t for the old Pope.
