He’s Diego, he’s twenty days old, and he lives in the countryside. He’s Emanuela and Edoardo’s firstborn.
We haven’t had the time to visit them and see the boy while they were at the hospital, so we organized a nice lunch at their place for today. They moved out from the city some time ago, and now they live in a little country house in Monteporzio Catone, a small town very close to Rome. They traded the city for a peaceful place, good and healthy air, and a terrific view over the fields and the mountains.
Diego is wonderful, he’s either sleeping or eating. I wanted to take a picture of him for the project (and the parents). And I wanted to convey the feeling of how small he is. Out of their house there’s this old barrel. It’s placed in front of the classic red wall. Both the barrel and the wall are in the shade. So, lots of textures, good light, and country feeling. We just need something to lay sleeping Diego in.
Claudia asks for a basket, which Emanuela provides us together with a cushion and a nice white and blue quilt. We place the basket on the cask, arrange cushion and quilt, then carefully lay Diego on the top of it. The scene is ready. And here is the portrait: he’s Diego, he’s twenty days old, and he lives in the countryside.
