Endless days are very long. After the big party of last night, we slept just a few hours (we can’t find a way to explain to Agata that after a party she shouldn’t wake up at 7AM) and started the day already exhausted.
After several coffees and a couple of aspirins I eventually cleared my head, organized my stuff, and left the place to go shoot a baptism. The parents who hired us are a nice couple for which we shot their wedding a little more than a year ago. It’s always nice working with the same families again, they become somehow friends. After all, we happen to be present at many important events in their life!
Their daughter is very cute, big eyed and redhead. We took some portraits of the baby at their place and then we all moved to the church for the Christening, and finally to the venue for the buffet. The sky was dramatic, with big dark clouds letting the sunset through, so we had excellent light conditions.
The whole thing finished around 7.30PM. We moved back home, downloaded all the files and charged all the batteries, so to be ready for tomorrow’s wedding, rest for like five minutes, and got out again.
Julia, the architect of Studio 28 and DBB, was throwing and open day at her new flat. We’re getting really along with her and her husband Paolo, and she’s really trying to help us with our photography business by sharing our work and suggesting our services to almost everyone she knows or meets. We couldn’t miss her party for anything in the world.
And yet, at midnight, we had to leave. Another couple of very close friends invited us to this big party for the “Work” call for entry 2012 exhibition night at Superegg studios. The event was part of Fotografia, the international photography festival which opened a couple of days ago in Rome. There we kept drinking, chatting, and meeting new people till around 2AM. And there I took this shot of the DJ.
At 3AM I am finally heading to bed. Luckily we left Agata with my parents, so she won’t be waking us in a few hours, and I made a vow to sleep as much as I can.
Great lighting, as always; the DJ pops out nicely. 🙂
I wondered, when shooting manual do you have the camera in A mode or in M or S mode? I’m curious how you configure the camera for manual shooting 🙂
Well, I used to go around in A mode, with a -1.0ev set, and use M mode when using artificial lights. However, in the last days I got stuck in M mode… I’m not sure which one I like best, though
why the -1.0ev? You guys party like rockstars, imagine the parties you would go to if you started doing photo work for rockstars 😉 I hope you got as much sleep as possible!
you need at least a -1.0ev at night if you want dark scenarios 😉
I’d love to photograph rockstars… but I guess parties would get seriously wild then…
A downward spiral! 😉
