This is a view of Ginger, one of the most radical chic restaurant-bar in Rome. It’s in the heart of the most luxurious and posh part of the city I introduced one month ago, it’s interiors are simply gorgeous, with two huge, metal-framed skylights on the roof, originally there from the twenties, the food is exhibited as if it was a sort of super minimal market, it serves solely famous wines and fancy shakes, for which it obviously overcharges more than a bit. But hey, you’d be a fool to expect anything different if you sit in such a place so well located in the city.
A week or so ago I finally noticed how one of the biggest (and nicest) differences between my two jobs is in the meeting venues. While research project meetings are endless, boring, and always happening in small, cold rooms offering solely horrible coffee, photographic meetings are usually hold in fancy bars, with appealing background music, friendly service, and excellent wines and finger food. The first ones sound to me like work while the seconds more like parties. I totally love the seconds.
So, today I was in this radical-chic place, drinking a radical-chic glass of Brunello, eating some radical-chic hand-cut Patanegra ham, while getting some precious grip on a client (and his related project) which had seemed completely lost in the last week. Some of you will have noticed that I wasn’t all that happy and relaxed in the last days, well this situation was the main reason.
So, I’m really happy (and finally relaxed) for how things eventually turned around.

I’m glad to hear that your meeting went well, and in such an enjoyable atmosphere! I looked it up on the web and it looks pretty swank, lots of white, kind of Apple’ish actually, any Macbooks for sale there? Anyhow its easier for us to have faith in you from afar, we don’t have your worries and can simply focus on your creations which always seem to turn out great, so I must confess, I wasn’t to worried and figured things would turn out fine! Then again I’m that sort of person for most situations and believe that things will turn out al-right, which although delusional perhaps is less stressful. Enjoy your weekend and keep up the good work, I check things out every morning while having my coffee (my first of the day that is) and always enjoy your little stories and/or outlooks on Italian or World current affairs. Oh and belated congrats on reaching number 300, hard to imagine less then 50 to go and you shall be released of it all, a job for one year that perhaps shall pay dividends for a lifetime!

As always, love the post as well as the photo. Usually the odd word here or there is okay, almost charming, as part of a reminder that you hail from the other side of the world (not to mention I don’t know italian). I normally don’t like correcting anyone, but I thought I’d mention that appealing and appalling can be used in the same place, and they mean very different things =).
