Sunset over a hill of Tuscany, is there any landscape more dreadfully abused in photography? Well, this particular landscape isn’t even one of the best, it’s actually probably one of the worst, and yet it’s kind of a “family portrait”, since it’s the view from our summerhouse. We watched this landscape every summer in the last nineteen years.
Twenty years ago we rented a small flat in a village here at Monte Argentario. I was thirteen and that was my Summer (the first one with girls and boys changing into girlfriends and boyfriends). Needless to say it was one of the most “epic” summers of my life. When the season was over, my parents started looking to buy a summerhouse in the area, till they finally found a former little storehouse with a bit of vineyards and a little land.
My mom is an architect and hence she has the magic power of transforming places into whatever else she has in mind. This is how after renting a flat one summer, we moved to buying a storehouse, and ended living every summer afterwards in a cosy summerhouse, enjoying the beautiful and never-boring landscapes of the hills of Tuscany at sunset.
