Today it’s travel day. I’m leaving the hotel and all the stuffed animals in it (and the wild ones outside) now, at 7.30, and it will take me approximatively thirty hours to get home. I’ll fly from Kodiak to Anchorage, where we’ve scheduled the last shoots for the project. Then I’ll leave the rest of the crew, and will board on a flight to Minneapolis. There I’ll have forty minutes to get on the flight to Amsterdam (it’s very easy that something will get wrong with the connection), then from Amsterdam I’ll finally fly to Rome, where my wife and daughter should be waiting for me.
I will watch a bunch of movies, read my books, listen to my music, get asleep for few hours on each flight, get finally home completely confused about what day, what time, what planet I am living in. And I know that all my family, friends and colleagues will be excited and interested in the stories and pictures I am bringing from my Alaskan adventures.
So long Kodiak, and (this time literally) thanks for all the fish!
